Tuxedo Reserve Raises Roof on Destination Food Market’s Anchor
CRE Market Beat Take
Anchoring a large-scale mixed-use district with a destination food market underscores the use of experiential retail to support residential absorption and long-term visit frequency.

Related Companies and Lennar have marked a key construction milestone at The Village at Tuxedo Reserve in Tuxedo, NY, with the raising of a custom post-and-beam structure known as the Barn. Planned as the anchor of Market Square, this building will serve as the centerpiece of a destination food market located at the heart of The Village.

Market Square is envisioned as the focal point for a range of food-focused offerings within The Village at Tuxedo Reserve, positioning the Barn as both a visual landmark and a central gathering place. The project team anticipates that the Barn and the broader Market Square destination will open in Fall 2026, adding a new retail and social hub to the emerging community.

The Village at Tuxedo Reserve is described as the heart of Tuxedo Reserve, a planned 1,200-acre mixed-use downtown district. Within The Village, plans call for a mix of shops, restaurants, bars, services, luxury rental residences, and experiential gathering spaces. The intent is to create a setting where food, retail, and residential uses are closely integrated, with the Barn and Market Square playing a leading role in drawing visitors and residents.

Within the larger Tuxedo Reserve development, the first hamlet, known as West Terrace, is currently in the sales phase. West Terrace offers a selection of five different floorplans, signaling that the residential component of the broader district is beginning to come to market even as key commercial and community spaces such as Market Square advance through development milestones.

Project leadership sees the Barn as a significant step toward realizing the vision for Tuxedo Reserve as a Hudson Valley destination. Greg Gushee, executive vice president at Related Companies, characterized the Barn raising as a major step toward an “entirely new kind of Hudson Valley destination.” He emphasized that, once completed, The Village at Tuxedo Reserve is intended to become a place that people visit repeatedly, whether for weekend getaways, dinners with friends, distinctive outdoor experiences, or access to everyday conveniences that have historically been limited in the area.

As construction progresses, the combination of Market Square, the Barn, and the growing residential offerings at West Terrace underscore the mixed-use ambitions for Tuxedo Reserve. The project is positioned to deliver a blend of retail, dining, and residential options within a single master-planned environment, with the Fall 2026 opening of the Barn and Market Square set as an early milestone for the evolving district.
