Strengthening a Washington, D.C. debt and equity platform with seasoned producers should improve sponsor access to structured capital options in the Mid-Atlantic.

Northmarq has expanded its Washington, D.C.-based Debt and Equity team with the addition of two senior capital markets professionals, Jamie Butler and Jason McFadden. Butler has joined the firm as managing director, while McFadden has come on board as senior vice president, both focusing on arranging debt and equity solutions for commercial real estate clients.

Butler arrives at Northmarq with more than two decades of experience in commercial real estate finance. Before this move, he led capital markets teams at Walker & Dunlop and CBRE, where he was responsible for originating and structuring financing across property types. Over the course of his career, he has arranged more than $15 billion in commercial real estate financing, and he has consistently ranked among the top producers in the Mid-Atlantic region.

In his new role, Butler will lead a team dedicated to delivering comprehensive capital stack solutions. His mandate includes arranging joint venture equity, mezzanine capital, bridge capital and permanent financing for sponsors. This scope positions the Washington, D.C. platform to address a range of capital requirements, from short-term structured solutions to longer-term, stabilized financing.

McFadden joins Butler on the Northmarq team after spending more than 12 years at Walker & Dunlop. Most recently, he served as a senior director on that firm’s Debt & Equity Structured Finance team, with responsibilities centered on sourcing and executing financing for commercial real estate owners and investors. During the past seven years alone, McFadden has helped close more than $4.9 billion in combined debt and equity financing.

By adding Butler and McFadden, Northmarq is deepening its senior leadership bench within the Washington, D.C. Debt and Equity group. The firm will now be able to leverage Butler’s long track record across a wide range of financing executions and McFadden’s structured finance experience to support clients pursuing joint venture equity, mezzanine financing and bridge capital, alongside permanent loan options. The hires underscore Northmarq’s commitment to expanding its advisory capabilities for commercial real estate capital markets activity in the Mid-Atlantic.
