Recent activity across Florida highlights a mix of commercial real estate investment, retail transactions and mission-driven housing, alongside a senior brokerage hire. The updates span major markets including Jacksonville, Lakeland and Miami, with moves involving brokerage, investment, single-tenant net lease retail and specialized multifamily housing.
Savills expanded its senior leadership in Florida with the hire of Andrew Hawkins as Senior Managing Director. Before joining Savills, Hawkins served as Senior Vice President at Foundry Commercial in Jacksonville, where he oversaw leasing and advisory services for a portfolio of more than 2,000,000 square feet of office space and industrial assets. Earlier in his career, he held leadership roles at Transwestern, Jones Lang LaSalle and Grubb & Ellis in New York, advising corporate occupiers on complex, multi-market transactions and strategic portfolio initiatives.
In Lakeland, SRS Real Estate Partners completed the $4.29 million ground lease sale of a Circle K property located at 3810 County Line Road. The 5,200-square-foot property, built in 2025, sits on 4.3 acres and is subject to an absolute triple-net, corporate-guaranteed ground lease with just under 15 years remaining. The transaction involved the sale of the land interest under the ground lease structure, with SRS Real Estate Partners handling the disposition.
In Miami, Gazit Horizons Inc. acquired Sunset West Shopping Center, a 73,072-square-foot neighborhood supermarket-anchored retail property situated on approximately 6.5 acres at the intersection of Sunset Drive and SW 87th Avenue. The fully leased center is anchored by grocery and neighborhood retail uses, with a new Aldi grocery store anticipated to open at the property this year. The acquisition adds a stabilized, fully occupied asset with an identified incoming grocer to Gazit Horizons Inc.’s portfolio.
Also in the Miami area, Casa Familia, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, marked the grand opening of The Village of Casa Familia in the Kendall neighborhood. Located at 10951 S.W. 84th Street in Miami, the community consists of two three-story buildings containing 50 one- and two-bedroom apartments. The new housing provides residences for 62 adults with intellectual, developmental and other related disabilities, reflecting Casa Familia’s mission to advocate for and create safe, affordable and sustainable housing for this population.
Taken together, these moves underscore ongoing investor interest in Florida net-lease and grocery-anchored retail, continued institutional focus on office and industrial advisory services, and nonprofit-led expansion of specialized multifamily housing in the Miami market.
