Bitterblue, a San Antonio-based developer, and The Morgan Group from Houston have partnered to construct a 301-unit affordable multifamily community on the eastern edge of Stone Oak. This new development will be called The Caroline at Sonterra and will feature 12 four-story residential buildings with a mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartment units as well as several townhome units. Half of the units are restricted to households earning less than the area median income.
The $72 million project was approved by the San Antonio Housing Authority board after they agreed upon an arrangement that would help finance it. As it is an affordable housing project, Bitterblue is exempt from property taxes for this development which includes amenities such as resort style swimming pool, fitness center, business center dog park pet washing station outdoor grilling stations and movie lawns near US 281/East Sonterra Boulevard intersection .
