**Casto Greenlit to Develop Target Store at Riverbirch Corner in Sanford**
The Sanford City Council has approved new zoning that will allow developer Casto to build a Target store at the Riverbirch Corner Shopping Center, located at 1033 Spring Lane. This move is part of a broader $64 million redevelopment plan by Casto aimed at transforming the retail center.
In addition to Target, Casto plans to introduce a regional supermarket that marks a new entry into the local market. These additions are central to the company’s strategy to revitalize Riverbirch Corner and enhance the retail offerings in the Sanford area.
According to the Triangle Business Journal, the Sanford City Council has committed $4.4 million in incentives to support Casto’s redevelopment efforts. Under the terms of the agreement, Casto must open both the Target store and the supermarket within five years to qualify for the financial support.
Casto acquired Riverbirch Corner Shopping Center in 2022 for $10 million.
