Empire State Realty Trust, Inc. (ESRT) has announced a new lease agreement with SORA, a Japanese omakase-style restaurant concept, for a 14,430-square-foot retail space at One Grand Central Place, located at 60 E. 42nd Street in Midtown Manhattan.
SORA, developed by publicly traded Round1 Corporation, will bring a unique culinary experience to the area with five high-end dining concepts curated by top chefs from Japan’s most prestigious restaurants. Additionally, the restaurant will feature a Tokyo-style cocktail experience, offering a direct taste of Japan’s vibrant bar culture.
“SORA’s innovative omakase dining concept builds on the Grand Central District’s new, top food destinations and its top tier tenants,” said Fred C. Posniak, Senior Vice President of Leasing at ESRT.
The addition of SORA complements the existing retail mix at One Grand Central Place, which includes Pera Mediterranean Brasserie, Blue Bottle Coffee, JPMorgan Chase Bank, Charles Schwab, and Federal Express.
The lease negotiations were facilitated by Robert Bonicoro and Betsy DaSilva of CBRE on behalf of SORA. Representing the landlord were Kenji Ota and Neil Seth of Cushman & Wakefield, along with Fred C. Posniak and Alec Stone of ESRT.
