**California Forever Proposes New City Within Expanded Suisun City**
California Forever, a development initiative backed by tech billionaires, has formally submitted an application to build a new city designed for 400,000 residents as part of a proposed expansion of Suisun City in Solano County.
Working closely with Suisun City’s municipal government, which has shown interest in annexing new land to broaden its revenue base, California Forever aims to develop 20,000 acres east of Suisun City’s current boundaries. By building within the city limits, the project can bypass the ballot initiative that would otherwise be required for development in unincorporated Solano County, according to reporting from the San Francisco Business Times.
In a letter to Suisun City officials, California Forever founder Jan Sramek and head of planning Gabriel Metcalf highlighted the broader vision for the project.
“We believe this project will bring to Suisun City and Solano County more broadly a major new employment center, including a special focus on advanced manufacturing at the Solano Foundry, major new investments, a new source of tax revenue, and a multi-decade supply of new homes in well-planned, walkable neighborhoods for a wide range of people,” the letter stated.
The timeline for annexation and full buildout of the city is expected to span several decades.
