Biogen Breaks Ground on New Kendall Common Headquarters

Biogen has officially broken ground on its new headquarters, marking the first private development within MIT’s expansive Kendall Common project in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Located at 75 Broadway, the new 16-story, 580,000-square-foot building will consolidate Biogen’s local operations into a single location.

“Helping to ensure that Biogen stays in Cambridge was very important to us,” said Patrick Rowe, Senior Vice President in MIT’s real estate group. “The company’s nearly 50-year history is a foundational component of the Kendall Square innovation ecosystem.” Biogen is expected to move into its new headquarters in 2028, coinciding with its 50th anniversary.

The Kendall Common development spans 10 acres and is slated to include eight buildings dedicated to residential, office, lab, retail, and community uses. The project follows a decade-long review and a federal agreement, both of which contributed to the recent opening of the MIT-built John A. Volpe National Transportation Systems Center.
