**San Francisco Officials Unveil Visionary Plan to Revitalize Fisherman’s Wharf**
San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie and the Port of San Francisco have announced an ambitious plan to breathe new life into Fisherman’s Wharf, aiming to boost tourism and support the city’s post-pandemic recovery. A central feature of the revitalization effort is the development of a new public plaza on the site formerly occupied by the historic Alioto’s Restaurant.
“Fisherman’s Wharf has long been one of San Francisco’s most iconic destinations, known for its rich history, stunning views, and beloved attractions,” said District 3 Supervisor Danny Sauter. “But today, too many storefronts sit empty, missing the energy that defines our city. The Fisherman’s Wharf Forward plan lays out a bold vision to breathe new life into this neighborhood.”
The next phase of the project involves finalizing the design plans for the plaza, acquiring regulatory permits, and initiating the demolition and construction process. The Port of San Francisco is planning to continue public outreach efforts throughout 2025 and beyond to ensure community input is reflected in the redevelopment.
The Fisherman’s Wharf Forward plan represents a key step in repositioning one of the city’s most historic and visited neighborhoods for the future.
