A StorageCafe survey found that Houston was at the forefront when it comes to homebuilding, apartments, self storage, industrial and office since 2013. San Antonio, Austin, Ft. Worth and Dallas followed suit in order of ranking.

Houston registered an impressive number of single family homes being permitted from 2013 to 2022 – around 55 600 units – as well as almost 90 000 new apartment permits issued during this same timeframe.
