The construction of single-family homes built to rent (BTR) has reached a new high in 2022, with more than 14,500 units completed. Dallas leads the way with 2,773 new houses in BTR communities – a 10-year high – followed by Phoenix at 1,527 build-to-rent homes. Since the trend began five years ago, Phoenix has seen 8200 completed units open their doors and 44 700 are currently under construction – triple the number of those finished this year. This surge is due to higher interest rates and rising home prices that have forced potential buyers to look for alternative options.
