**New Braunfels Food Bank Spearheading Affordable Housing Project**

As housing costs continue to rise across Central Texas, a coalition of food banks and community organizations is launching a groundbreaking initiative aimed at tackling the region’s affordable housing crisis.

The newly announced Apple Seeds Apartments project, a $12 million endeavor, is being led by the San Antonio and New Braunfels Food Banks, the McKenna Foundation, and NB Housing Partners. The 52-unit complex is designed to support families with children under the age of 15 and households earning 80% or less of the area’s median income (AMI).

More than just a place to live, Apple Seeds Apartments will provide residents with access to food and nutrition programs, educational and financial literacy resources, child-focused initiatives, and opportunities for community engagement. The project aims to address both immediate housing needs and foster long-term stability and well-being for residents.

This holistic approach represents a new model for how housing and social programming can intersect to support the growing number of families struggling to find affordable homes in Texas’s booming economy.

For those interested in exploring how regional economic shifts and population growth are reshaping multifamily investment opportunities, industry leaders will be gathering to discuss these trends at the Texas Market Outlook during Connect Texas Multifamily. The event takes place Thursday, August 28 at The Joule in Dallas.
