**EYA Closes on Land for Rockville Retail-to-Residential Redevelopment**

D.C.-based developer EYA has officially closed on the land at the former Rockshire Village Center in Rockville, Maryland, marking a significant milestone in the transformation of the long-vacant shopping center into a vibrant, mixed-use neighborhood.

The planned redevelopment will replace the empty retail strip with a new residential and commercial community designed around walkability and connectivity. The project includes up to 5,200 square feet of commercial space designated for retailers or office tenants, along with extensive public open space to enhance community interaction.

“Rockshire is just one of several large-scale commercial-to-residential transformations we are undertaking across the DMV region,” said Aakash Thakkar, Chief Acquisitions Officer at EYA. “We worked closely with the city and community to transform this outdated commercial site into a vibrant, walkable neighborhood.”

Situated on a 7.3-acre site in Montgomery County’s Wootton High School district, the new Rockshire development will feature a total of 60 residential units—31 single-family detached homes and 29 townhomes—blending suburban living with modern urban convenience.

EYA’s redevelopment of the Rockshire Village Center aligns with the company’s broader mission of creating sustainable, livable communities with “life within walking distance.”
