Skanska Breaks Ground on Brimmer and May School’s New Recreation & Wellness Center
Skanska has officially broken ground on Brimmer and May School’s new 26,000-square-foot Recreation & Wellness Center in Newton, Massachusetts. The company’s program management and consulting division, Skanska Integrated Solutions (SIS), is leading the project as the official project manager. This state-of-the-art facility will replace the school’s existing gymnasium, which dates back to 1972.
Designed by the architecture firm Sasaki, the new center will include a versatile gymnasium space that can be configured for either one high school regulation basketball court or two practice and junior competition courts. The facility will also feature bleachers with seating for up to 300 spectators, a multipurpose junior recreational area, a fully equipped fitness room, multiple locker rooms, training areas, and office space for the school’s athletics and wellness staff.
“We’re excited to continue our work with Brimmer and May School, which has now spanned over two decades, and to celebrate the recent groundbreaking of its new Recreation & Wellness Center,” said Tom Doolittle, Senior Program Manager, SIS Operations at Skanska USA Building. “The building will be a crucial addition to the school’s campus and offer state-of-the-art athletic and academic facilities for both students and faculty.”
The new center underscores Brimmer and May School’s commitment to student wellness and athletic excellence, positioning the institution to better serve its community for decades to come.
