**Port of Laredo Targeted for Major Improvements with New Cross-Border Trade System**

The Port of Laredo, already the leading international trade port in the United States, is poised for significant expansion with the launch of a new public-private initiative known as Green Corridors. The initiative has received approval from the White House to construct, maintain, and operate an advanced cross-border International Freight Transportation System (IFTS) that will connect Laredo, Texas, with Monterrey, Mexico.

This transformative project is expected to ease traffic congestion at the port of entry and throughout both cities while enhancing security measures far beyond current capabilities.

Once completed, the Laredo-to-Monterrey corridor will reduce cross-border wait times, increase supply chain resilience, and add critical capacity to support the ever-growing volume of trade between the U.S. and Mexico.

The ambitious project introduces a suite of cutting-edge transportation features—including elevated guideways, advanced freight terminals, complex logistics software, and a fleet of autonomous freight shuttles—to streamline and modernize one of North America’s busiest trade routes.

Green Corridors is supported by a powerful coalition of private-sector entities and investment partners. This includes the Swinbank family office based in Houston, Druker Capital of New York, and the Chang Robotics Fund from Jacksonville, Florida.

Construction is expected to begin within the next 36 months, with initial operations slated for launch by 2031.
