**Construction Begins on Charlesbank on the Esplanade**

Lee Kennedy Company has officially broken ground on the Charlesbank on the Esplanade project, a transformative initiative anchored by the Smith Family Pavilion. Developed in collaboration with the Esplanade Association and the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation, the project aims to reconnect the city of Boston with a vibrant green space that has been inaccessible to the public for decades.

The development will feature a hybrid construction model utilizing both mass timber and traditional steel. This innovative approach not only supports sustainability objectives but also accelerates the construction timeline and enhances the visual appeal of the structure with a natural, contemporary design.

Once completed, the reimagined area will offer a variety of indoor and outdoor amenities. These include play areas for children, reservable community rooms for events and educational programming, multipurpose sports courts, a café, a roof deck overlooking the Charles River, universal restrooms open year-round, and free public Wi-Fi.

Charlesbank on the Esplanade represents a significant step toward revitalizing Boston’s riverfront, bringing community-centric features and accessible public space to one of the city’s most historic and scenic locations.
