**Houston Developer Plans Retail Center Catering to Pearland’s Asian Community**
Local developer Peter Wood is planning a new retail development aimed at serving an often-underrepresented segment of Pearland’s population. According to recent data from the U.S. Census Bureau, approximately 17% of Pearland’s nearly 130,000 residents are of Asian descent. In response, Wood is launching a project focused on providing culturally relevant shopping and dining options.
The project, named **Pearland Asian Town**, will feature two buildings totaling approximately 126,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space. The first building is expected to be completed in August, with the second following by the year’s end. A major Asian grocery store is being sought to anchor the center. Other prospective tenants include a bakery, a Korean barbecue restaurant, a sushi spot, and a boba tea shop. Additionally, Ye’s Asian Cuisine Buffet Eatery has committed to a 12,000-square-foot restaurant space within the development.
Wood acquired the 12.7-acre site located at 7407 Broadway Street in 2020 from MHI Partnership Ltd.
Pearland Asian Town promises to offer more culturally specific amenities while contributing to the city’s broader commercial growth.
