**Portman Moves Forward with Amsterdam Walk Transformation in Atlanta**
Portman Holdings is advancing its plan to redevelop a dated shopping center on the edge of Atlanta’s Virginia-Highland and Morningside/Lenox Park neighborhoods into a vibrant mixed-use community.
Located on an 11-acre site currently owned by Halpern Enterprises, the upcoming Amsterdam Walk project is set to include approximately 1,100 residential units, with a significant portion designated as affordable housing. In addition, the redevelopment will feature 150,000 square feet of commercial space.
As part of the initiative, existing tenants of the current shopping center will have the right of first refusal to lease space in the new commercial development at a 35% discount. The purchase of the retail center is expected to close soon, although financial details remain undisclosed.
In a further expansion, Portman will acquire approximately two additional acres from the City of Atlanta near the BeltLine to incorporate into the project site.
Development planning is expected to unfold over the next 14 to 16 months, marking a major step in the transformation of this key Atlanta corridor.
