**Prism Places Named Property Manager of Santa Monica Place**
Prism Places has been appointed as the new property manager for Santa Monica Place, the iconic 527,000-square-foot retail center located in Santa Monica, California. This decision comes under the direction of Trigild, the court-appointed receiver that assumed control of the property last month. Prism Places will now oversee the day-to-day operations of the center.
Previously managed by long-time owner Macerich, Santa Monica Place faced financial trouble after Macerich defaulted on a $300-million loan in 2023. In response, the court placed the property under receivership, appointing Trigild to manage its recovery and stabilize operations.
Speaking on the new role, Stenn Parton, founder and CEO of Prism Places, expressed a deep personal and professional commitment to revitalizing the community.
“After the devastating fires, the Westside of Los Angeles is in need of community and places to gather,” said Parton. “Santa Monica has had its challenges even before the fires, and the neighborhood of Pacific Palisades has endured so much loss—my home included. We’re motivated and inspired to restore Santa Monica Place to the heart and soul of this community.”
Designed by renowned architect Frank Gehry, Santa Monica Place completed a $265-million renovation in 2010 that transformed it into a modern, open-air retail destination. Today, it features a blend of shops, including high-end and luxury retailers, and remains a central destination in the city’s commercial and social landscape.
This management transition signals a potentially major revitalization for the retail hub, aiming to reinforce its role as a community cornerstone in Santa Monica.
