### Phoenix Industrial Construction Slows, Trails Savannah and Dallas
Phoenix has now fallen behind Savannah, Georgia, and Dallas in industrial construction activity.
According to a recent **Commercial Search report**, Phoenix remains one of the strongest industrial markets in the nation. However, new data indicates a potential slowdown following a surge in demand for logistics space and distribution centers serving the Southwest region.
At the start of 2020, Phoenix had less than 10 million square feet of industrial space under construction. By mid-2023, that number had skyrocketed to nearly 60 million square feet. As of now, Phoenix has 17.7 million square feet of industrial space under development, compared to 22.6 million in Dallas-Fort Worth and 24.7 million in Savannah.
Some reports speculate that certain areas of the region may be overbuilt. However, Phoenix is not alone in this trend—industrial space under construction nationwide has declined by 25% year-over-year.
