### Charlotte Group Plans 290-Unit Affordable Apartment Project

**Historic West End Partners** has acquired multiple parcels on West Trade Street, setting the stage for a mixed-use development anchored by a grocery store.

The organization will collaborate with Chotomy, the development arm of local architecture firm Shook Kelley; The Integral Group; and Charlotte nonprofit P3 Foundation to construct a six-story, 290-unit apartment building. This project will feature a 15,000-square-foot market as its ground-floor anchor tenant. The five-parcel development will cover just over 1.5 acres, with an estimated construction cost of $100 million. Funding will come from donations and privately placed tax-exempt bonds.

According to the *Charlotte Business Journal*, this affordable housing initiative is unique because it will be fully owned by a collective of nonprofits. As co-developers, Integral and Chotomy will receive compensation on a fee-only basis without holding ownership stakes in the project.

The development team aims to break ground in 2026 and complete the project by late 2027.
