### YWCA Reopens Historic Downtown Seattle Building After $63M Renovation

The YWCA of Seattle and King and Snohomish counties has officially reopened its historic mixed-use building in downtown Seattle following a $63 million renovation. A ribbon-cutting ceremony marked the completion of the extensive project, which revitalized the nine-story, 108,000-square-foot building. The structure had been closed for renovation since July 2023.

The nonprofit has owned and operated the building at 1118 Fifth Ave. since its original completion in 1914. According to the *Puget Sound Business Journal*, the renovation was funded through a combination of sources, including the Washington State Financing Commission, Washington State Department of Commerce low-income tax credits, the City of Seattle Office of Housing, and other public and private partners.

JH Brawner served as the general contractor for the rehabilitation of this historic property. The project included renovations to the top five floors and the construction of 114 units of permanent affordable housing. Additionally, all major systems were replaced, and the first two floors were completely redesigned, while preserving the historic exterior and key interior elements of the building.
