### Portland International Airport Enters Second Phase of Renovations

Renovations at Portland International Airport (PDX) are progressing, with the Port of Portland continuing efforts to complete the final 30% of upgrades. The extensive $2.15 billion renovation project, which began with the opening of the new main terminal last year, aims to accommodate 35 million passengers annually by 2045.

This phase of construction is focused on improving ease of navigation throughout the airport. Designed by Portland-based architecture firms Ankrom Moisan and ZGF, the expansion represents the most ambitious upgrade in PDX’s history, effectively doubling its capacity.

A key highlight of the renovation is the use of locally sourced materials. All 3.5 million board feet of wood used for the roof, concessions, flooring, and feature walls were procured within a 300-mile radius. The materials come from small family-owned forests, nonprofits, and tribal nations, emphasizing sustainability and community involvement in the project.

As the renovations move forward, PDX is set to emerge as a more efficient and passenger-friendly hub while maintaining its commitment to regional resources and design.
