Affordable Housing Projects in Seattle Receive $147M Allocation from City

The City of Seattle recently announced its annual funding awards for affordable housing providers, totaling $147 million to construct and preserve 1,150 homes in neighborhoods across the city. This investment includes the construction of 1,088 new homes in 11 buildings with a range of housing types for low-income residents such as permanent supportive housing for those experiencing homelessness and apartments/homes for first-time homebuyers. Additionally, one building located in Belltown will be preserved allowing 62 homes to remain affordable.

In addition to rental projects funded through this initiative from sources like the 2016 Seattle Housing Levy and JumpStart Payroll Expense Tax programs like Mandatory Housing Affordability are also included which provide three homeownership projects specifically designed with affordability in mind.

This substantial financial commitment demonstrates a dedication towards providing safe and secure living conditions at an accessible cost throughout all areas within Seattle’s limits ensuring that everyone has access to quality accommodations regardless of their income level or background.
