### Former JEA Headquarters Available for Redevelopment

The 19-story tower that previously housed employees of the Jacksonville Energy Authority (JEA) is now open for bids. JEA relocated its Customer Solutions Center and corporate offices to a seven-story building at 225 N. Pearl St. in April 2023. Now, the Jacksonville Business Journal reports that JEA is seeking proposals to convert the office building into residential apartments.

Interested parties must demonstrate their experience and success with similar projects, particularly those involving downtown or urban core redevelopment and adaptive reuse. This initiative aims to revitalize a key corner of downtown Jacksonville.

The JEA Board will determine whether to approve a purchase and sale agreement for the 347,811-square-foot tower at 21 W. Church St., along with the former six-story customer center and the Adair Building. The offering also includes a parking garage with approximately 500 spaces and retail space located at 421 Laura St. The agreement will be negotiated by JEA staff based on the evaluation committee’s recommendations.
