Merchants Capital Secures $1.1B in Securitization Financing

Merchants Capital, a financial services provider based in Carmel, IN, recently announced the successful completion of a $1.1 billion securitization since the formation of their capital markets group in 2020. This brings their total securitizations to over $3 billion since then. The most recent transaction was completed at the end of March and involved first-lien floating-rate skilled nursing and seniors housing bridge loans that Merchants Capital will continue to service going forward.

In addition to this securitization being led by VIUM Capital (a leading seniors housing and healthcare lender) and ATLAS SP Partners (structuring agent/sole bookrunner), Merchants Bank of Indiana issued Senior Credit Linked Notes with an aggregate principal balance totaling approximately 14% ($158 million)of the reference pool – reducing risk weighted assets for this loan pool while also supporting further growth & lending capacity for both Merchants Capital & VIUM Capital alike.  This synthetic securitization comes just six months after closing on another one involving multifamily bridge loans worth $1.2 billion back in September 2020
