Guzman y Gomez (GYG), a popular Mexican fast-casual restaurant chain based in Australia, has secured a lease in Bucktown for its first-ever location within the city of Chicago. The flagship restaurant will be situated at 1624 N. Damen Avenue and is expected to open in the summer of 2025.
With over 230 locations worldwide and five already established in Chicago, GYG’s expansion into Bucktown marks an important milestone for the brand. Additionally, two more locations are set to open this year – one in Evanston at 1706 Sherman Ave on March 11th and another one in Des Plaines at 2777 Mannheim Rd this summer.
Founder and co-CEO Steven Marks expressed his pride for how well-received GYG has been by the Chicagoland community since their first opening in Naperville. He also shared his excitement about bringing their fresh, authentic Mexican flavors and lively atmosphere to Chicago with this new location.
