The former Apthorp Motor Car Company garage, located in Manhattan’s Upper West Side, has been sold by RIPCO Real Estate for $10.5 million. Originally constructed in 1906, this early 20th-century building is situated at 214 W. 80th St., between Broadway and Amsterdam Avenue and was most recently utilized as a six-story parking garage.
Representing the sellers were members of the RIPCO team including partner Gene Spiegelman, executive managing director Doug Kleiman, vice chairman of investment sales Stephen R. Preuss Sr., VP of investment sales Andreas Efthymiou and associate Charles Schirrmeister.
According to Efthymiou: “The property’s mixed-use zoning and substantial size – approximately 20,000 buildable square feet – made it an appealing opportunity for developers looking to take advantage of the limited supply of available sites in this area.”
