"Denver Hotel Acquired by McWhinney for $95M"

McWhinney, a Colorado-based developer, recently acquired the Thompson Denver hotel for $95 million. The 11-story building, located at 1616 Market Street and constructed in 2022 by T2 Hospitality, features 216 units and includes amenities such as a restaurant, cocktail bar, fitness center and meeting space spanning over 10,000 square feet. Previously owned by Hyatt Hotels Corporation and managed by them as well.

This purchase adds to McWhinney’s expanding hospitality portfolio which already includes properties like The Maven Hotel at Dairy Block and The Crawford Hotel at Union Station. Additionally,the company also owns the hotel portion of the mixed-use property located at1801 Wewatta St., where Hotel Indigo Denver Downtown is situated. This marks the first time that Thompson Denver has been sold since its establishment.

Aside from hotels,McWhinney also holds commercial,multifamily,residential,and mixed-use properties across various states including Colorado,Utah,Texas Massachusetts,Oregon,Nebreska,and Southern California.This acquisition further solidifies McWhinney’s presence in these markets.
