A trio of prominent developers is seeking approval from a local governing board in Charlotte to move forward with a major zoning request. Jamestown, North American Properties, and Nuveen Properties have joined forces to propose a $180 million project at Birkdale Village that would involve transforming the current Huntersville zoning regulations. The development would feature a 125-room hotel, 150 apartment units, 122,000 square feet of office space, and 26,000 square feet of retail.
The proposed project includes plans for an office building with ground-floor retail space on the site currently occupied by Barnes & Noble at Birkdale Village. Additionally, there are plans for a new parking deck behind this building. The existing Dick’s Sporting Goods location will be replaced by the development’s multifamily component which will also include ground-floor retail space. Across from these buildings will be the construction site for the new hotel.
This ambitious mixed-use project has caught the attention of many in Huntersville and is being closely monitored as it moves through town records and awaits final approval from local officials.
