LA Rebuilding Appoints Steve Soboroff as Chief Recovery Officer

Mayor Karen Bass has selected Steve Soboroff to serve as the Chief Recovery Officer for the City of Los Angeles, leading the city’s efforts to rebuild and recover from recent devastating fires. In this role, Soboroff will develop a comprehensive strategy for rebuilding and facilitating the safe return of residents, workers, businesses, schools, nonprofits, libraries and parks in areas affected by these fires.

According to Mayor Bass: “Our top priority is getting Angelenos back into their homes and rebuilding our communities. With his knowledge of our city and ability to mobilize resources at City Hall as well as engage with public entities like businesses and philanthropic organizations needed for this massive undertaking – there is no one better suited than Steve to create a successful recovery plan.”

Soboroff also expressed his commitment towards restoring hope among Angelenos through this collective effort: “This work represents our shared vision for a brighter future. For some residents it means returning home quickly; others are focused on surviving until they can resume working in their beloved 103-year-old community. Our mission is clear – we must begin building an achievable path towards restoration across LA starting immediately – which requires positive participation from everyone.”
