Several new contracts have been granted to contractors who will be involved in the $3.7 billion renovation of the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas.
The Dallas City Council has approved $47 million for architectural and engineering design services for two more phases of this major redevelopment project.
Gensler has been awarded a contract worth $25 million to handle construction and renovations at the Dallas Memorial Arena. The work will include modernizing seating, lighting, and acoustics in preparation for the arrival of WNBA’s Dallas Wings team in 2026.
In addition, KAI Design has received a contract worth $22 million to rebuild the Black Academy of Arts and Letters within the expanded facility.
Construction on this project began back in June with plans to increase exhibition halls, double ballroom space, and triple meeting room space. Renovations are expected to be completed by 2028 with an anticipated opening date set for 2029.
