Atlas Development is currently in the process of exploring the potential for constructing 13 data centers just outside Atlanta, specifically in Coweta County. The estimated cost for this project is $17 billion, but it is still in its early stages and not yet finalized. One major challenge that must be addressed is the high power demand that these data centers will require, which exceeds even that of all households within the county. In fact, it has been projected that by 2037, nearly 83% of Georgia Power’s electricity demand from new large customers will come from these data centers.
Another significant factor to consider for this project are the extensive water and sewer needs required to support such a massive undertaking.
The proposed location for this complex would be on an 800-acre tract near Newnan off U.S.27 between Wagers Mill Road and Welcome to Sargent Road. Each individual data center would cover approximately 378,000 square feet with a total combined area spanning almost five million square feet.
According to reports from Atlanta Business Chronicle , Coweta County estimates that if this project moves forward as planned,it could potentially generate around $1.6 billion annually in tax revenue alone. This ambitious plan marks a major development opportunity for Coweta County as they continue their efforts towards economic growth and expansion through innovative projects like Atlas Development’s proposed massive Data Center Complex.
