Crosland Southeast is seeking permits for a mixed-use development in Matthews, which will include both residential and commercial components.
The proposed project will cover 92.9 acres of land located at 1700 E. John St., and the developer has submitted a rezoning request to move forward with their plans. The development is set to feature 564 apartments, a 120-room hotel, 103 single-family homes, 48 townhomes, and approximately 54,000 square feet of retail/office space.
According to reports from the Charlotte Business Journal , the Matthews Board of Commissioners has postponed their decision on this project until early next year.
Crosland’s chosen location for this development is just off Exit #52 on Interstate-485. It sits near Central Piedmont Community College’s Levine Campus as well as the Mecklenburg County Sportsplex at Matthews. The land itself is owned by Aspen Asset Group and the Yandle family.
In addition to this new venture in Matthews, Crosland also serves as master developer for Eastland Yards – formerly known as Eastland Mall – in Charlotte.
