Fast-Growing NC Town Approves Transformative Rezoning for Growth

The town of Fuquay-Varina experienced a significant increase in population, going from 18,000 residents in 2010 to nearly 40,000 currently. In response to this growth, town leaders have swiftly taken action to accommodate the influx of people. One such measure was the recent rezoning approval for nine parcels totaling almost 88 acres. These parcels were changed from residential agriculture zoning to commercial mixed-use.

This rezoning will pave the way for a new development called Vaughan Park which will feature various types of buildings including medical facilities, multifamily units and mixed-use spaces. The project is set to include two multifamily buildings with a total of 742 units and six commercial and six mixed-use structures. Leading developer DR Horton will also be constructing hundreds of homes as part of this project.

Vaughan Park will be divided into two distinct developments with unique features on each side. The west side amenities include a swimming pool, public art promenade, playgrounds and greenway around wetlands and ponds while the east side boasts its own swimming pool along with clubhouse access,a playground area,a sheltered food truck space, and even an exclusive dog park for residents’ furry friends.

Overall, this transformative rezoning decision by Fuquay-Varina’s town leaders reflects their proactive approach towards managing rapid growth within their community.
