Skender and its partner, Blackwood Group, have successfully completed the renovation of two senior living apartment buildings on the West Side. In collaboration with the Chicago Housing Authority and Michaels Development, these renovations were designed by Canopy Architecture and bring both facilities up to modern standards.
The first property is located at 3700 W Congress Parkway in East Garfield Park. The Irene McCoy Gaines Apartments is a 17-story building built in 1964 with a total of 150 units. All units have been renovated to include updated HVAC systems, electrical wiring, and plumbing. Additionally, new amenity spaces such as an exterior courtyard and upgraded laundry areas have been added.
The second property is Albany Terrace Apartments located at 3030 W21st Place in South Lawndale. This complex was built in1974 with a total of350units spread across17 stories.The revitalization project included upgrades to resident units as well as common amenity spaces like HVAC systems,and electricaland plumbing systems.
