Pflugerville is undergoing a major transformation as it strives to distinguish itself from the surrounding suburbs of Austin. The city has launched an ambitious downtown redevelopment program, known as Downtown East, which spans 29 acres and will extend Main Street. This mixed-use development will feature a community plaza, new city hall, parking garage and recreation center. Additionally, there will be retail and office space available.
The project will be completed in phases with the first phase expected to finish in fall 2026 at an estimated cost of $223 million. A groundbreaking ceremony was held on December 2nd to mark the beginning of this exciting venture.
Griffin Swinerton LLC has been selected as the master developer for Downtown East and will enter into a ground lease agreement with Pflugerville for the 29-acre site. They are also responsible for overseeing retail leasing during at least the initial phase of development.
