"SA Grain Mill to be Revamped by Developers"

At a recent meeting of the New Braunfels City Council, plans to redevelop a 150-year-old grain mill site into a high-intensity project were discussed. The council granted preliminary approval to an unnamed developer for the project. Located near the Comal River and Tube Chute, this more than 9-acre riverfront area is now zoned for high-intensity mixed-use development.

The proposed development includes a boutique hotel, restaurants, retail spaces, office spaces and a 400-car parking garage. In order to meet city goals and regulations, certain conditions have been set by the council such as conducting a parking study and incorporating pedestrian-friendly design elements. Setbacks will also be implemented near residential areas along with screening measures for loading docks and equipment.

According to Ashley Farrimond from the law firm representing the developer team, part of their plan is to repurpose existing silos on-site as part of their design concept which aims at blending historic preservation with urban renewal efforts.

This redevelopment project has been covered by Connect CRE news platform.
