CBRE has successfully facilitated a new lease agreement for the headquarters of Energize Capital, an investor in climate solutions based in Chicago. The firm specializes in providing venture capital and growth equity to asset-light startups focused on addressing climate issues. As part of their expansion plans, they will now occupy 11,070 square feet at 1 South Wacker Drive, more than doubling their current space in Chicago’s Loop area. CBRE’s Brad Serot and Bill Sheehy acted as representatives for Energize Capital during the leasing process.
Energize Capital is moving within the forty-story building as they have outgrown their previous spec suite which they occupied since October 2021. They will be undergoing a buildout within their new space to accommodate their growing needs. John Tough, Managing Partner of Energize Capital stated that over the last three years, they have increased their footprint by more than six times and anticipate further growth.
According to a recent report by CBRE , Class A office vacancy rates in West Loop currently stand at 13.7% as of Q3 2024 – making it one of downtown Chicago’s most sought-after submarkets with low vacancy rates compared to other areas.
