Governor Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvania has announced a significant investment of $6.7 million in support of Mitsubishi Electric Power Products, Inc (MEPPI) and its growth in the Pittsburgh region.
In partnership with its parent company, Mitsubishi Electric Corporation from Japan, MEPPI will be investing $86 million to construct an advanced switchgear factory and expand their power electronics facilities and testing labs. This new facility is expected to create 200 jobs and maintain an additional 806 positions in southwestern Pennsylvania.
The manufacturing plant will produce both gas-insulated and vacuum circuit breakers as there is a growing demand for transmission and distribution grid products due to the country’s shift towards renewable energy sources.
MEPPI, headquartered in Warrendale, PA, is a fully owned subsidiary of Mitsubishi Electric Corporation that serves various markets such as power systems, data centers,rail transportation,and large visual displays across North America by providing electronic products,solutions,and services.
This announcement highlights the planned construction of a $92 million state-of-the-art manufacturing facility by Mitsubishi in Pittsburgh.
