Hillwood, the developer of AllianceTexas, has announced a partnership for a $262 million Smart Port project at one of the state’s most renowned industrial facilities. This public-private collaboration involves Hillwood, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), Fort Worth and Haslet cities, and North Central Texas Council of Governments. The main objective is to connect AllianceTexas’ inland port to major transportation networks like I-35 and I-45 through the Texas Connected Freight Corridor and National Highway Freight Network.
The grant will fund several initiatives including constructing a new “smart connected bridge” from BNSF Intermodal Facility to State Highway 170, establishing a 32-acre integrated intermodal depot with BNSF Railway, and enhancing 5G communication network capacity. These efforts aim to improve supply chain efficiency by enabling real-time tracking of goods as they move through the port.
The advanced technology in these new structures will benefit importers, warehouse operators, and yard managers by providing them with live updates on goods flow within their operations. This development marks another milestone in Hillwood’s commitment towards building innovative infrastructure at AllianceTexas that supports economic growth in DFW region.
