MBTA Appoints Ex-Lynn Mayor as New Board Chair

MBTA Appoints Ex-Lynn Mayor as New Board Chair

On Monday, Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey announced the appointment of Thomas M. McGee as the new chair of the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Association (MBTA) board of directors. This comes after current chair Thomas P. Glynn’s decision to step down from his position on November 1.

McGee has been a member of the board since April 2023 and brings with him extensive experience in public service, having previously served as Mayor of Lynn and chaired the Transportation Committee in the Massachusetts Senate.

Governor Healey praised McGee’s understanding of how crucial transportation infrastructure is for communities in Boston and throughout the state due to his past roles as a Gateway City mayor and Senate committee chairman.

Meanwhile, outgoing chair Glynn has been involved in state transportation policy for many years, serving as MBTA general manager under Gov. Michael Dukakis and CEO at Massport under Gov. Deval Patrick before returning to MBTA as board chair in 2022.
