“Enhanced Healthcare Facilities for Increased Employee Retention”

"Enhanced Healthcare Facilities for Increased Employee Retention"

According to JLL’s “Employee Perspective on Healthcare Real Estate” study, 24% of respondents are considering leaving their current position within the next year. This highlights the issue of burnout among healthcare professionals and how it can be addressed by improving attraction, experience, and retention in the industry.

One important factor that contributes to a negative workplace perception is sound privacy. Many healthcare spaces do not prioritize this aspect when building or renovating, resulting in thin walls and lack of quiet areas for employees. While patient care is crucial, providing a peaceful environment for employees also plays a significant role in delivering better patient care.

Another challenge faced by healthcare employers is outdated facilities that have not been refreshed in decades due to logistical difficulties and costs involved with renovations. In new construction projects as well as rehabs, employee needs are often overlooked which can affect clinical outcomes.

The survey also highlighted the importance of flexibility for employees when selecting a workplace. This includes work-from-home options or flexible work hours which may be difficult to implement in an industry that requires physical presence but should still be considered where possible.

Proximity to home was another key driver mentioned by respondents when deciding on a workplace. Some hospitals have partnered with developers to build affordable housing near their facilities specifically geared towards hospital staff members as an incentive for them stay long-term at their jobs.

In addition to these improvements related directly to real estate space itself such as safety modifications and convenience factors like proximity from home; there were other aspects mentioned such as positive workplace culture , fair compensation based on experience/role; all contributing towards higher employee satisfaction levels leading ultimately lead toward increased retention rates .

It’s essential for property investors/owners within this sector pay close attention regarding maintenance/safety issues (such lighting/parking lot access systems) while ensuring effective facility management teams equipped with necessary tech-savvy skills play vital roles too keeping tenants (employees) happy & satisfied overall .

Ultimately involving healthcare employees in project designs is crucial as they directly influence patient outcomes. While budgets may be centered around revenue-producing services, it’s important to consider the caregivers who play a significant role in delivering quality care and include their needs in the equation for successful projects.
