Tesla is investing $375 million in a lithium refinery located in the Corpus Christi area of Texas. This state-of-the-art facility will produce battery grade lithium and house battery materials processing, refining, and manufacturing operations. With this refinery, Tesla aims to manufacture one million vehicles per year with the potential to expand that output.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott and Tesla CEO Elon Musk attended the official groundbreaking ceremony for this project which is expected to create up 400 jobs upon completion by mid 2024 running at full speed by 2025 on 500 acres of land. Representatives from Tesla have stated that it will be a “near environmentally neutral site” with no toxic emissions or any other ill effects associated with its operation so much so that people can live right in the middle of it without suffering any harm whatsoever.
