Denver’s New Carbon-Positive Hotel

Denver's New Carbon-Positive Hotel

The Populus, a new hotel in Denver, is set to open in just a few days and will be the first carbon-positive hotel in the city. The impressive 13-story building spans 135,000 square feet and cost over $100 million to construct. A significant portion of this budget was allocated towards using environmentally responsible building materials. To further reduce its environmental impact, The Populus has secured offsite tree and soil credits equivalent to its carbon footprint, planted an additional 70,000 trees on site, and purchased wind energy for all of its operations. In addition to these efforts, the hotel will not have any parking spots.

Overseeing the project is Urban Villages while The Beck Group serves as general contractor.Studio Gang designed the striking exterior of the building.Chicago-based Aparium Hotel Group has been chosen as the management company for this luxurious establishment which boasts265 rooms, two restaurants,a coffee shop, and multiple gathering spaces for events.

Plans for developing The Populus were initiated six years ago with construction officially beginning in April2022.The highly anticipated opening marks a major milestone towards creating sustainable hospitality options within Denver’s bustling landscape.
