"Priming for Development: Southtown Oxbow Site"

Oxbow Development Group is moving forward with a redevelopment venture in San Antonio, which will replace the former headquarters of the local school district. The project, known as “Southdown Aldea,” will be located just south of Hemisfair and feature a mix of residential and retail spaces within six-story and five-story buildings. Additionally, there will be a six-story residential building surrounding a seven-story parking garage with 600 spaces. Oxbow acquired the property from the school district for $14.5 million in 2018.

The development’s multifamily component will consist of three structures housing 250 market-rate units along with 40,000 square feet of commercial space.

Next week, Oxbow plans to seek approval for their conceptual design from the Historic Design and Review Committee. Construction on Phase 1 is anticipated to commence towards late-2025 and conclude by either late-2027 or early-2028. Local firms Alamo Architects and Don B.McDonald Architects are partaking in this project’s design team.
