New City LLC has submitted a request to Metro Atlanta for approval to include 780 additional apartments in its $1 billion Atlanta Beltline Eastside Trail project. The timeline for the start of this project is currently unknown. According to the Atlanta Business Chronicle, New City will wait until there is more favorable lending conditions for apartment projects before moving forward.
The Fourth Ward section of the project, which includes Mailchimp’s headquarters as well as a boutique hotel and apartment tower, would also see two new residential buildings added by New City LLC.
These final phase buildings would cover approximately 4 acres and replace an existing parking lot, temporary dog park, New City’s offices, and former restaurant/music venue Venkman’s. Architectural firm Barkow Leibinger has been selected to design these new residential buildings.
New City is expected to present their plans before the Beltline’s Design Review Committee in the near future as they move towards completing this ambitious development on Eastside Trail.
