"North Terminal Expansion at Port of New Bedford Completed"

Federal and local officials recently gathered to celebrate the completion of the North Terminal expansion project at the Port of New Bedford, MA. This new maritime facility, which cost $42.7 million, is aimed at boosting the Port’s competitiveness in industries such as fishing and offshore wind.

The newly finished terminal boasts 965 linear feet of bulkhead and provides 10.5 acres of space for operations. It also features a 56,000-square-foot warehouse with direct access to rail and road transportation. With upgraded bulkheads, new berthing facilities, improved dredging capabilities, and expanded laydown space; North Terminal is expected to streamline logistics for businesses while also allowing for future expansions at the Port according to statements from the New Bedford Port Authority.

This expansion marks another milestone in modernizing the infrastructure at The Port of New Bedford over recent years – with over $1 billion invested into upgrades within just a decade alone – making it one of its largest sets ever seen by generations past.
