Construction has begun on Phase I of The Commons at River, a mixed-use development located in Georgetown off Williams Drive. This exciting project will feature a plaza, an apartment complex, service-based companies, retail space and restaurants.
According to Community Impact , the developer began work on the below-ground civil infrastructure in September 2023. Construction of a 15,000-square-foot building also began about one year later. Already half of this building has been pre-leased and two additional retail buildings within The Commons at River are expected to be approximately 9,600 square feet each.
The site is being developed by Headwater and Partners Development Co., which is the development branch of Partners Real Estate. In 2021 they purchased the site for $4.5 million from Raye McCoy Elementary School before receiving approval from Georgetown city officials for their mixed-use project in 2022.
Once completed, there will be an additional reserved area next to The Commons at River measuring approximately 1.28 acres that can potentially be used for future developments.
