On Friday, city officials and local community leaders celebrated the opening of a new home for the Chicago Park District headquarters and multi-purpose fieldhouse in Brighton Park, Gage Park, and Back of the Yards. This 17 acre open space brings much needed recreational opportunities to one of Chicago’s most park-deprived communities.
Rosa Escareño, Superintendent and CEO of the Chicago Park District said “This site was once a vital manufacturing hub in our city. Now it has been transformed into an inviting administrative facility with versatile outdoor spaces that offer multiple options for active recreation to those we serve.” The 58,100 square foot building is located at 4830 S Western Ave., providing 174 acres worth of multi-use park space when completed. The relocation process will begin early June 2021.
